Review of First Assignment
I have now had a chance to read my tutor’s feedback following my first assignment. As Jesse it did take me some time to get the assignment completed but in the end I was rather pleased with the results and the feedback.
Jesse noted that I had messed up a bit in only shooting jpegs, which was a big error on my part.
As he stated I did spend a few weeks setting the up the shoots. Liz was great and after sending her a few emails all went well on the days we took the images.
I wanted to take a series of images that would not look out-of-place in the window of a shop selling clothes for young ladies. Fat Face, Next, River Island etc.
I also saw a few adverts for Clarks shoes and I liked the style of the images. They seem to be trying to say that their shoes were for young stylish people.
So with the images above in mind I set off to try to capture them.
Jesse said, in part of his feedback :-
“Like all good photography, it should look effortless and comfortable. From your final edit, the ones that do this really well indeed are 8 and 11, which I don’t think would be out-of-place in a fashion mag , catalogue or advertisement.that the images should have looked”
I was especially pleased with these comments as these were my favourite images and the resulting images may have looked good in an advert.
I can also see why he said that images 5 and 12 have a similar look to them.
Later he added :-
On the other end of the scale… Liz looks like she has just sat on a slug in no. 7! 9 also looks self-conscious.
In relation to image 7 his comments did make me laugh and he may be right but I still like the image.
I think Liz may have looked even better in this image if she was looking at me, rather that the floor.
I also agree with his comments about the head shots (Images 13 and 14). There is a bit too much hair.
Well in the end , as I have already said, I was pleased with the results and the feedback. Working with Liz was a pleasure, she made the whole thing a lot easier than it could have been.
Thank you Liz!
