I have been unable to really start my next course as my camera was away for repairs. In view of this I have had the chance to do a bit of research on different types of portraits.
Across the road from our house is a guy called Andrew Shaylor, he is a very successful photographer as you can see from his website and blog.
One of his books that rally interested me is called Hells Angels Motorcycle Club.
The book is full of images of bikers, their machines , sad images from funerals, happy images of families and friends enjoying themselves. There is a great image showing the bikers on their way to a hospital in Manchester to deliver Christmas presents.
The portraits of the guys in the book are gritty, bold but show humour and a sense of loyalty and belonging.
For Mr Shaylor to gain access and the trust of the bikers in order to take such images is a tribute to his skill.
