This assignment required me to devise a theme that would interest me. I decided to go to Henley on Thames to see what happens on the Thames on a normal Sunday.
I would have to take approximately 50 images to make sure that I would have a sufficient to complete the project.
I decided that I would set out the day as if I was covering the events for a local magazine. This would mean:-
1. Limited time at the location
2. Quick processing as there is a deadline for the editor.
3. Processing the images on the move.
4. Backing up the images as I went along and finally selecting the images to email off.
Her is my work flow chart:-
Here are the contact sheets of the images that were removed following the technical edit:-
Here are the images that were left that would go through to the next part of the process
Step Three, the first Selects
Why were the above images Chosen:-
They each show a different aspect of the day, It was a day on the river that I was asked to cover so the better images would show this. I wanted to show young and old could have a good day on the river.
Further images of the boats and oars could be used for advertising. I especially like the shots of the man with the prosthetic leg.
After reviewing the above images, together with some of the images that did not make the first cut, I decided that some of the above images did not reach the required standard.
The Final Choice
The last selection of the process means that I have to choose two images out of over 50 that will be published.
I wanted images that would show people enjoying themselves on the river, but that would also be different.
After a great deal of thought here are the two images that I have selected.
This is how I would Crop them, what do you think?
I know that people may think that the second image is a strange choice, but I think that it is a very powerful picture.
Well this was my interpretation of The Editing project.
Assignment 1 will follow soon.
Thanks for looking.
